“Spaceballs” Sequel Is In The Works With Mel Brooks Producing & Starring Josh Gad

Fans of Spaceballs can rejoice!

For years, there’s been talks of a potential sequel to the Mel Brooks cult hit 1980’s Star Wars parody. A sequel is even teased in the original film, given the subtitle The Search for More Money. Brooks openly talked about the possibilities as well, but it seemed to be one of those projects that we may never see. However, after last year’s History of the World Part II, Brooks is finally making good on the promise of sequels to his films.

Everything we know about the "Spaceballs" sequel.

Today, it was announced that a Spaceballs sequel is officially in development with Brooks as a producer from Amazon MGM studios. The film will be directed by Josh Greenbaum basked on a screenplay by Benji Samit, Dan Hernandez, & Josh Gad. Gad, in turn, will also star in the film. There’s no word yet on which original stars will be returning, if any. The original film featured Bill Pullman, John Candy, Daphne Zuniga, Rick Moranis, and Brooks.

Plot details are also being kept under wraps. But the most important thing is that there’s a new installment of the saga on the way!
