While promoting the upcoming Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, actor & comedy legend Eddie Murphy revealed that he's begun recording his voiceover work for the newly announced Shrek 5 movie set to release in 2025.
Along with the production update, Murphy also revealed that a new standalone Donkey movie is currently in the works.
What Eddie Murphy's saying about "Shrek 5" & the standalone "Donkey" movie.
According to Murphy's conversation with Collider, he said that “We started doing Shrek 4 or [Shrek] 5 months ago. I did this, I recorded the first act, and we'll be doing it this year, we’ll finish it up. Shrek is coming out, and Donkey's gonna have his own movie. We're gonna do Donkey as well. So we're gonna do a Shrek, and we're doing a Donkey [movie].”
It's been more than two decades since we've seen the first outing of one of the beloved animated adventure comedy, Shrek, and his lovable & hilarious sidekick, Donkey. So far, there hasn't been official confirmation if Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz & Antonio Banderas are set to reprise their roles as Shrek, Princess Fiona & Puss In Boots in the upcoming film.
If there's anything we can tell about the current film landscape, the Box Office has seen massive draw in animated sequels crediting the recent successes of Inside Out 2 & Puss In Boots: The Last Wish. Come 2025, we look forward to making another visit to the Swamp at the theaters next year!
