Tim Minchin Announces Rare U.S. Tour in August

It’s been well over a decade since Tim Minchin did his first U.S. tour in 2011. It’s also been that same amount of time since his last big tour here. (He has done smaller tours when he was living out here working on a project for Dreamworks that was unceremoniously canceled). But at last, the Australian musician - who has some terrific comedy songs in his repertoire - will be returning to the States for a new tour.

To be fair, he won’t be going for laughs necessarily on this tour. It’s billed as being An Unfunny Evening with Tim Minchin and his Piano. The subtitle does add, however, “The promoter can’t guarantee the artist will not inadvertently amuse.” He has been known to still sneak in some familiar favorites for comedy fans occasionally, amidst songs from his album Apart Together, and the musicals Matilda and Groundhog Day. But overall, the show will be more of an intimate evening of sorts with a talented musician that has a prolific body of work.

“It has been over a decade since I played solo in the States,” Minchin said in a statement, “and I’m SO fkn excited to be back. Nothing compares to US audiences.”

The Pre-Sale starts today with the code TIMFAN. General sales starts on Friday. Tickets can be purchased here. The tour dates can be found below.
