Stand-up comedian Atsuko Okatsuka has announced that she'll be taping her next stand-up special for Hulu later this Fall. The comic joins the continually growing comedy lineup featuring Ilana Glazer, Roy Wood Jr., Bill Burr & Jim Gaffigan releasing Hulu original stand-up specials under its comedy banner, Hularious (previously called Hulu's Laughing Now).
The upcoming special will be taped on Saturday, November 9th at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood as part of her upcoming Full Grown Tour (tickets for that show are available here). It'll mark her second stand-up special following her debut HBO special, The Intruder (2022), directed by fellow comic Tig Notaro. No word yet on the title of the special or its premiere date (it'll later launch on Hulu & Disney+ internationally).
Atsuko Okatsuka on partnering with Hulu & Disney for her next comedy special.
Atsuko shared her excitement about bringing her next special Hulu & Disney saying in a statement: "As a company that pioneered cartoons, it was only a matter of time until they asked to work with me. I mean look at me. I rock a bowl cut and wear bright colors. I am Toon Town. Excited to bring good times and shenanigans to the people of the world with the Disney/Hulu family.”
Soon we'll be seeing Okatsuka starring in the upcoming Kevin Hart produced stand-up comedy documentary Group Therapy, whom she stars alongside Gary Gulman, Neil Patrick Harris, Mike Birbiglia, Nicole Byer, Tig Notaro, & London Hughes (the doc had its premiere at Tribeca Film Festival earlier this summer). She'll also be seen next in the upcoming Apple comedy Outcome, starring Jonah Hill & Keanu Reeves.
