It had been eight years since David Letterman last stepped in front of the Ed Sullivan Theater cameras. That all changed last night.
David Letterman experienced the ultimate homecoming on last night's episode of "The Late Show."
Letterman was a guest on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. While he has gone on other shows post-retirement, this was his first time back in his old studio, where he held court for 22 years. Judging from the standing ovation he received, the crowd - and Stephen - was glad to have him back.
During the four segments, they talked about the advice he gave Stephen Colbert, his favorite musical moments, the secret hiding spot, why he wanted to book The National as the musical guest, and so much more.
It was great to have David Letterman back where he belongs, if only for a night.
