HBO Picks Up New Comedy Series Starring Rachel Sennott

HBO's next wave of comedy programming is continuing to take shape as we continue to hear about the network's newest comedy series in the works following the recent endings of Curb Your Enthusiasm & Barry.

It was announced today that HBO has picked up a series order for a new ensemble comedy series starring, written & executive produced by Rachel Sennott. Per the logline, the currently untitled show follows a codependent friend group that reunites, navigating how the time apart, ambition, and new relationships have changed them. The network ordered its pilot earlier this year and was executive produced by Emma Barrie, Aida Rodgers (both of whom worked on Barry), and director Lorene Scafaria (who previously worked on HBO’s Succession).

Joining Sennott for the cast is Odessa A’zion (Sitting in Bars with Cake, Grand Army), Jordan Firstman (Rotting in the Sun, Dave), Miles Robbins (Blockers, Old Dads) & True Whitaker (Godfather of Harlem).

What Rachel Sennott & HBO are saying about the upcoming comedy series.

Amy Gravitt, Executive Vice President HBO and Max Comedy Programming, says, “Rachel is as hilarious as she is charming. With Lorene and Emma, she has captured the comedy and the beauty that happens when friendships collide with our best laid plans. We’re thrilled to be continuing our collaboration with this talented team and this exquisite cast.”

Sennott adds, “I’m so grateful to Amy and HBO for the opportunity to make this show and the wonderful team that has been a part of creating it. And I’m going to come up with a title soon I promise!”

Before working on the upcoming HBO comedy series, Sennott previously starred in the hit comedies Bottoms & Bodies, Bodies, Bodies. She'll next be seen on the big screen next month in the highly lauded Saturday Night Live biopic Saturday Night, where she plays original SNL cast member Rosie Shuster.

Also in development from HBO is Tim Robinson & Zach Kanin's latest collaboration The Chair Company & a new Bill Lawrence produced series starring Steve Carrell.
