Some would say Sacha Baron Cohen had a "very nice" time visiting The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night.
The actor & comedian stopped by the late night show during Thursday night's episode to promote his dramatic work in the upcoming Alfonso Curaron directed thriller series Disclaimer on Apple TV+.
But that didn't stop Fallon from insisting that Cohen should bring back two of his most iconic characters, Borat & Ali G, to flex his signature comedic & improv skills on the show. But it wasn't just any return: Fallon proposed him the question, "If you got the call to moderate a debate, a last-minute presidential debate with both candidates, as Ali G or anything, would you do it?"
And thankfully, Cohen rose to the occasion thanks to Fallon having his characters' signature wardrobe pieces (the red head cap, sunglasses, fake mustashes & of course, Borat's signature gray jacket) sitting behind his desk & needless to say: his return as those characters was a crowd pleaser.
Sacha Baron Cohen returns as "Ali G" & "Borat" on The Tonight Show!
Cohen first had a back & forth mock exchange between both candidates as Ali G, a character he made popular on the hit HBO sketch comedy series Da Ali G Show in the early 2000s and ran for three seasons. He called both Donald Trump & Kamala Harris his "hero" & "honey" respectively.
Cohen then changed into Kazakhstani's leading journalist Borat, a character he made famous for in its 2006 film Borat. He appeared again in the film's sequel released in 2020, Borat Subsequent Movefilm. Borat greeted Fallon with three affectionate kisses & showed a ton of eagerness for the women in the studio audience. Borat inquired to Trump about where he too can "eat the cats and dogs" in Ohio cause he loves his hometown equivalent of Kazakh Fried Cat, calling it "pussy-licking good!"
When then speaking to Harris, Borat acknowledged show she is "a woman, a person of colors, married to a Jew" and not advised to come to Kazakhstan, where she would "have already made three out of the four crimes punishable by death."
While he have yet to hear of the acclaimed performer hitting the stand-up comedy circuit again as Ali G, this was a treat to see and is always great to see Cohen reprise both beloved characters.
