Sad your favorite sitcoms are over? Fear not, you can still delight in the cast’s chemistry only this time on your morning commute. Sitcom castmates turned close friends didn’t want to stop seeing each other everyday so they turned to the mic. This has led to some of the most popular podcasts out there. No matter what your favorite sitcom is, there is probably a rewatch podcast out there for it but these are some of the most popular sitcoms and their accompanying podcasts.
The Office Ladies
Hosted by Jenna Fischer, who starred as Pam Beesly, and Angela Kinsey, who played Angela Martin, from The Office, The Office Ladies is one of the most popular sitcom re-watch podcasts of its time. Fischer and Kinsey give behind the scenes looks at all your favorite episodes. In January 2021, iHeartRadio awarded The Office Ladies “The Show of the Year” at their annual podcast awards. The success of their podcast has even led to the pair writing their very own book, Office BFFs. Since the podcast has reached the end of its rewatch life, The Office Ladies is entering a new era of bi-weekly episodes.
Parks and Recollection with Jim O’Heir and Greg Levine
While many try to compare Parks and Recreation to The Office due to their similar mockumentary style and overlap in creators and producers, Parks and Recollection is the creation of a very different set of hosts. Jim O’Heir who plays the bumbling Jerry Gergich shares the mic with writer Greg Levine. Levine brings listeners into the writer’s room and what all goes down when working with such a quick turnaround time while O’Heir lets us onto the highly improvisational set.
More Better with Stephanie and Melissa
Staying in the Micheal Schur universe, the man behind The Office, Parks and Recreation, and The Good Place, is Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Stars Melissa Fumero who plays Amy Santiago in the series and Stephanie Beatriz who plays Rosa Diaz co-host the podcast More Better in which they share anecdotes and a few embarrassing stories often from their time on set. As indicated by the title, the podcast often features grammatical errors as the decade long friendship spits out a fountain of, as Beatriz told Deadline, “consistent and hilarious ongoing discussion”
The Mess Around with Hannah and Lamorne
The Mess Around with Hannah and Lamorne, formerly known as Welcome To Our Show which was also co hosted with Zooey Dechannel for its first season, is the rewatch podcast for Fox’s popular sitcom New Girl. The show is hosted by Hannah Simone, New Girl’s Cece Parekh, and Lamorne Morris, New Girl’s Winston Bishop, give their behind the scenes jokes and stories as they try and find every bear-related easter egg hidden in each episode. The show is affectionately named after the co hosts’ characters’ recurring pranks called “Cece Winston mess arounds.”
Second In Command: A Veep Rewatch
Matt Walsh (Mike McLinktok) and Timothy Simmons (Jonah Ryan) might be secondary to Julia Louis Dreyfus’ Selina Meyer; they hold their own on their podcast Second In Command: A Veep Rewatch. On the podcast, the co hosts share their experiences on Veep as well as in Hollywood. Cast and crew alike drop in to share their stories about the hilarious show and sometimes discuss politics in the only way they know how, in a ridiculous fashion.
The Psychologists Are In
The police officers in Psych, Maggie Lawson as Juliet O’Hara, an eager detective, and Timothy Omundson as Carlton Lassiter, the uptight lead detective, co host the rewatch podcast, The Psychologists Are In. Like New Girl, Psych has a hidden easter egg in every episode, a pineapple and Lawson and Omundson take every opportunity to find it as they go through the hysterical buddy comedy series.
It's Always Sunny Podcast
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia stars Rob McElhenney, Glenn Howerton, and Charlie Day host The Always Sunny Podcast in which they recount their 16 seasons of friendship one episode at a time. The cast does a deep dive into what made their partnerships work and how the show survived for so long, as long as they can remember what happened.
Fake Doctors, Real Friends
The Scrubs stars Zach Braff, who plays JD (John Dorian), and Donald Faison, who plays Turk (Christopher Turk), co-host the hit podcast Fake Doctors, Real Friends. In the Scrubs rewatch podcast, the dynamic duo relive their favorite moments one episode at a time. The podcast is complete with behind-the-scenes insights and appearances from many of the cast from Scrubs’ nine seasons. Braff and Faison bring a friendship that’s lasted over two decades to the ears of the listener, never failing to share the infectious joy they get in each other’s presence.
Just Jack & Will
Under SmartLess Media, the podcast production company started by the Smartless podcast hosts Jason Bateman , Will Arnett , and Sean Hayes, Just Jack & Will is a Will & Grace rewatch podcast co hosted by Sean Hayes (Jack McFarland) and Eric McCormack (Will Truman). Hayes and McCormack bring the same charm and chemistry from the set to the microphone as they reunite with the old cast and guest stars, sharing how in the world they were able to run away with 18 Emmy nominations.
The History of Curb Your Enthusiasm
Jeff Garlin and Susie Essman reunite as show husband and wife, Jeff and Susie Greene, for the podcast, The History Of Curb Your Enthusiasm. The co stars breakdown every episode of the HBO show. They recount their stories on the highly improvised episodes and moments of comedic genius that would occur on Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Where Everybody Knows Your Name with Ted Danson and Woody Harrelson (Sometimes)
While many of the sitcoms recent rewatch podcasts have been based off of are around one to two decades old, Cheers has reached it’s fourth decade since it’s inception yet it’s podcast Where Everybody Knows Your Name with Ted Danson and Woody Harrelson (Sometimes) is one of the youngest. The co stars Ted Danson and Woody Harrelson, as Harrelson describes to Variety, “will be rekindling our romance, I mean friendship, after all this time.”
