Louisiana raised stand-up comedian & podcaster Theo Von has steadily created his massive platform for his wildly popular podcast, This Past Weekend. His show has been transcending beyond the comedy world over the past couple years drawing so many different audiences. On any given week, he might have anyone ranging from fellow comedians like John Mulaney or Shane Gillis, ordinary people like A Mall Cop & A School Lunch Lady, musicians like Ed Sheeran & Luke Combs, & even legendary pro wrestler Hulk Hogan.
To make that range of guests even more impressive & wide ranging would certainly be an impressive feat: and over the past week, the comic managed to do exactly that. His two most recent & polarizing guests were opposing political figures Senator Bernie Sanders & former president-now rerunning Republican nominee Donald Trump. And the fans have been vocal online of how wild & impressive of a feat this is for the Rat King comedian.

To no one’s surprise, Theo’s Trump episode has nabbed a quick & viral 4.4 million views on YouTube as of writing & will likely continue to skyrocket from there. They met at Trump’s golf course in New Jersey & discussed “reforming healthcare, border security, his friendship with Dana White and why he refrains from drinking and smoking.”
Fans have commented on this episode calling it “the most honest interview of all media… where they discuss real people issues and just have a conversation” & calling Theo “a real life Forrest Gump the way he find[s] himself in these situations - legend.”

And just a week before publishing the aforementioned episode, Von also sat down with former presidential candidate & Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders in Burlington, VT (the episode currently sits at 1.7 million views at the time of writing). In their conversation, they talk “his life in politics, why he believes the United States should offer free healthcare to all, the power lobbyists have over the government, his thoughts on Kamala Harris vs. Donald Trump, how young people can still make change in today’s world, and more.”
Fans have also shared their admiration for this episode saying “he’ll have a U.S Senator on today then something like a school bus driver the next week. Truly a generational talent.” Another added, “It’s awesome to see Theo genuinely engaged and asking the right questions mixed with Bernie’s ability to meet people on their level.”
Before debuting these two episodes, Von, along with fellow comedians Joe Rogan, Bowen Yang & Matt Rogers, the Smartless Trio (Jason Bateman, Will Arnett & Sean Hayes), Tony Hinchcliffe, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Dax Shepard, & Conan O’Brien were all named some of the most powerful people in podcasting in 2024 according to The Hollywood Reporter.
