Saturday Night Live has booked their final two hosts for 2024! Just before Gladiator II star Paul Mescal will take the Studio 8H stage this Saturday night to make his hosting debut with musical guest Shaboozey, capping the year 2024 during the show's celebratory 50th season will be comedy legends & former SNL cast members Chris Rock & Martin Short.
The legendary sketch comedy series has been on quite a roll so far this season with memorable hosting stints from Nate Bargatze & Charli XCX as well as reccuring cameos from Maya Rudolph as Kamala Harris, Jim Gaffigan as Tim Walz, Dana Carvey as Joe Biden & Andy Samberg as Doug Emhoff throughout this past 2024 Presidential Election season.
When are Chris Rock & Martin Short returning to host season 50 of "SNL"?
On December 14th, Rock will return to host the show for the fourth time & joining him will be musical guest Gracie Abrams making her SNL debut. Rock last hosted the show in 2020 during the show's 46th season premiere.
The Selective Outrage comic has kept busy this year from speaking at Kevin Hart's Mark Twain Prize for American Humor Ceremony on Netflix, performing his When Harry Met Sally Table Read at Netflix Is A Joke Fest as well as returning to narrate & executive produce the revival of his hit animated series Everybody Still Hates Chris on Comedy Central. He also recently announced his newest film he'll be starring in, writing & directing titled Misty Green.
On December 21st, Emmy-Award nominated actor & comedian Short will be returning for his third individual hosting appearance & fifth overall with musical guest Hozier (who will be making his second appearance as musical guest). His last hosting appearance on the show was almost exactly two years ago when he co-hosted with fellow Only Murders In The Building star Steve Martin. And just earlier this year, he was seen during revered SNL alum Kristen Wiig's star-studded five timers club monologue.
On top of starring in the hit murder mystery comedy series Only Murders In The Building on Hulu, Short made seismic laughs online for his return as Jiminy Glick during his residency on Jimmy Kimmel Live this past summer.
SNL is produced in association with Broadway Video with creator and executive producer Lorne Michaels. The show will mark its 50th anniversary early next year with a celebratory weekend culminating in a live primetime special on Sunday, February 16, 2025.
