Kevin Hart's Mark Twain Prize Ceremony To Air On Netflix This May

The Mark Twain Prize for American Humor broadcast has found a new home within Netflix.

The Kennedy Center has just announced a new multi-year partnership with Netflix that will bring the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor into the streamer’s growing roster of award show receptions, including this year’s SAG Awards. This year’s celebration of the 25th Mark Twain Prize recipient, Kevin Hart, will take place on Sunday, March 24. The show will be recorded and available to watch exclusively on the platform on Saturday, May 11, towards the tail end of the Netflix is a Joke Festival.

This year’s ceremony is set to feature a stacked lineup of comics ready to honor stand-up comedian and actor Kevin Hart including Dave Burd (Lil Dicky), Dave Chappelle, Jimmy Fallon, Chelsea Handler, The Plastic Cup Boyz, Jerry Seinfeld and Chris Rock.

“An accomplished writer, producer, actor, and comedian, he has made lasting contributions to the comedic landscape and represents our celebration of American humor at the Kennedy Center,” said Kennedy Center President Deborah F. Rutter.

The event had previously aired on various stations throughout the years including Comedy Central, PBS and, most recently, CNN before the partnership with the streaming service.

The Mark Twain Prize for American Comedy has honored giants in the field of comedy. Previous award recipients include Richard Pryor, Steve Martin, Tina Fey, David Letterman, Carol Burnett and many more. Hart will be added onto a list with comedy legends, whose art stands the test of time.

“We express our gratitude to Kevin for enriching American culture and look forward to celebrating his exceptional career,” said Rutter.
