When Ted Lasso premiered its third season last year, we had every indication that it could be the last. While some cast was hopeful, others - such as star Jason Sudeikis - told press at the time that they told the story they wanted to tell. Still, when the series wrapped up season three, it was still one of the hottest shows of the moment. So we had a feeling that there might be more to explore within that world.
Well, this past weekend, we learned some news that seems very promising. The show’s studio - Warner Brothers Television - has picked up options on three of the show’s main cast members. These three are Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift.
What's next for Ted Lasso to get a fourth season at Apple TV+?
The next step is reaching out to additional cast and crew, such as Sudeikis and Brendan Hunt, who both starred and co-created the series with Bill Lawrence. While the end of the series did open up a narrative that wouldn’t have to feature Ted, he was the heart of that series. As fantastic as the show’s supporting characters are, it would be nice to see him come back in some capacity.
Only time could tell as far as what’s next. But if there is more on the way, we couldn’t be more excited!
