Matty Matheson as Neil Fak

Five Of The Funniest Fak Moments So Far From “The Bear”

The Bear is a dramedy but for those in the service industry it is a psychological horror. The show has masterfully captured the stressful experience of working in a restaurant and therefore those who have been in the industry must relive the experience.

While The Bear has been more dramatic than comedic, it has found a balance through providing the Fak brothers an increase in air time. Richie Jerimovich (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) used to be a big part of the comedic relief when paired up with Neil Fak, played by Matty Matheson who has no experience as an actor but is a real-life acclaimed chef. But, as Richie develops as a character, he has butted heads less and less with Fak. This led to the acquisition of Theodore Fak (Ricky Staffieri), Neil’s brother. The Fak brothers have caused some of the most hilarious moments in The Bear so here’s the 5 best Fak moments.

5. Richie & Fak Call Marcus

In season 2, Marcus Brooks (Lionel Bryce) goes to Copenhagen to learn from a great pastry chef but is worrying about his sick mom. The somber and calm episode is quickly interrupted with a call from Neil and Richie in the restaurant as they go through a fire suppression test. The chaos ensues and the two can’t help but fight.

4. Fak wants to be a chef

In the first season of The Bear, Neil Fak is the handyman who gets called every once in a while to fix things but he wants to do more. When he asks Richie to promote him, Richie asks why he should hire him, and Fak replies, “I got hearth.” Richie gives him a hard time and Fak tries to convince him by saying he can play the keyboard. This leads to a full-on wrestling match that finds its way to the front of the restaurant. The quick escalation of Fak’s plea and his neverending hilarious fumbles leave the audience wanting more.

3. Stevie Invests In The Fak Brothers

John Mulaney even makes a cameo as Stevie, part of the Berzatto’s extended family. Here the show almost breaks the fourth wall as Stevie represents all of us watching. The Fak brothers are trying to get Stevie to invest in their baseball card flipping business and Stevie agrees to a surprisingly large amount of money because he is so entertained and wants to see what they do with it. Stevie says, “I like seeing you guys every year. You fucking deliver.” To which I think we all agree.

2. Fak And The Broth

As Neil Fak is promoted to front of house from handyman, he is asked to carry out a broth which Carmy Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White) asks him to pour it in front of them. Fak takes that literally. Fak is so intent on satisfying Carmy that he forgets all common sense. While some may laugh because of Fak’s stupidity, others, including myself, painfully laugh as we recall moments we’ve done the same.

1. John Cena Cameo

While it is odd that John Cena has a Cameo in the show, it only adds to the comedic presence on the show. Cena joins the Fak family as Sammy Fak, the muscle of the group, who is called upon when the restaurant is in a rush to buff the floors before a photographer comes. The scene starts with Neil Fak freaking out about what to do with his hands when Sammy comes in and immediately assaults Theodore Fak about SD cards that are missing and asks his brother to say the password but he refuses so Sammy says he’s gonna haunt him. Despite leaving the audience in the dark, all these almost telepathic conversations and inside, familial references resonate hilariously because many families communicate like this. The scene ends with the brothers putting their hands together and yelling, “Faks attack!”
