This Week In Comedy: Matt Rife returns to Netflix for his second special with the streamer, Lucid. Unlike Natural Selection, this special is a fully crowd work special and is actually the first ever crowd work special to premiere on Netflix. In Lucid, Rife "gets up close & personal with an unpredictable Charlotte audience to riff on all things dreams." Ahead of the new special, the comic took to social & teamed with fellow comedian & actor Rob Riggle for a funny new promo that shows Rife flexing his sketch comedy chops around his "biggest supporters." Be sure to check out his previous specials Matthew Steven Rife & Only Fans on 800 Pound Gorilla!

More on the stand-up front: new comedy specials set to release later this week include Aussie comic Nath Valvo with I'm Happy For You & LA based comic Blair Socci with Live From The Big Dog premiering on 800 Pound Gorilla's YouTube channel. Also exclusively releasing with 800 Pound Gorilla this week before later heading to YouTube is James Adomian's debut special Path Of Most Resistance. Releasing with Comedy Dynamics this week is Billy Sorrells' Toxic AF & Maggie Lalley's Chaotic & Neurotic which will be available on demand with Prime Video, Apple TV & more.

On the television front: the brand new Bill Lawrence created series Bad Monkey, starring Vince Vaughn, premieres on Apple TV+. From the same team behind Ted Lasso & Shrinking, this new show follows Vaughn as Andrew Yancy, a bounced Miami cop who's now a health inspector in the Florida Keys. Once he stumbles "upon a case that begins with a human arm fished up by tourists, he realizes that if he can prove murder, he’ll be back in. He just needs to get past a trove of Floridian oddballs and one bad monkey."

Solar Opposites, the hit adult animated series, returns for Season 5 on Hulu today. The show follows a group of aliens who are "evenly split on whether Earth is awful or awesome. On season five, Terry and Korvo are now married & the whole Solar Opposites team is focused on family values.”

On the movie front: director Paul Feig premieres his newest film Jackpot!, an outrageous action-comedy starring John Cena & Awkwafina. And finally, now that the 2024 Summer Olympics are wrapped, most of late night (minus After Midnight) is returning to their desks for new episodes.
