Trey Parker & Matt Stone's "Casa Bonita" Documentary To Premiere At Tribeca Film Festival

Since its debut on a classic 2003 episode of South Park, Casa Bonita has become a focal talking point for South Park fans everywhere beyond its home base in Denver. The massive "Disneyland of Mexican restaurants" became an even bigger destination for discussion since series creators Trey Parker & Matt Stone revived the restaurant last year, which played a special part in each of their childhoods & a big part of Denver's history.


And now, a new documentary telling the story of the treasured restaurant's "rise, fall & revival of the beloved Colorado landmark" is set to premiere at Tribeca Film Festival this week with a premiere on Paramount+ later this Fall titled ¡CASA BONITA MI AMOR!.

The restaurant originally opened in 1974 in an unassuming strip mall was saved by the raunchy animated series creators & is now widely known as "an Old West and Acapulco-inspired fever dream made famous by its indoor waterfall, cliff divers, and haunted caves."


“I think people will be surprised to see the level of hands-on devotion Matt and Trey poured into this place. Trey was fueled by a Wonka-like passion to bring back the Casa Bonita of his youth.” said the film’s director Arthur Bradford.


“In addition to being a landmark in Colorado, Casa Bonita is a cultural touchstone for legions of South Park fans,” said Chris McCarthy, Paramount Global Co-CEO and President/CEO, SHOWTIME & MTV Entertainment Studios. “We’re thrilled to build on our longstanding partnership with Matt and Trey and bring their iconic passion project to life on Paramount+ later this year.”


The restaurant has served over 150,000 guests since and plans to throw open its doors to the general public later this year.


While premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival this Friday, June 7th, Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen will moderate a discussion with the documentary director Arthur Bradford & show creators Trey Parker & Matt Stone (tickets for the screening can be purchased here).


¡CASA BONITA MI AMOR! is directed by Arthur Bradford, produced by Jennifer Ollman. P.H. O’Brien is Director of Photography. Chad Beck (ACE), Devin Concannon and Paul Frost are editors, Bradford and Keith Pizzi are executive producers. Afshin Beyzaee and Vernon Chatman are co-executive producers.


Following the premiere of the new documentary, Parker & Stone are also set to unveil their new musical-comedy & feature film collaboration alongside Grammy-award winning rapper Kendrick Lamar in 2025.
