Saturday Night Live has tapped Emmy & Grammy Award nominated stand-up comedian Bill Burr & critically acclaimed British pop singer Charli XCX as its next two hosts for its on-going & celebratory 50th season. The news comes as John Mulaney returns to the Studio 8H stage this Saturday Night to host for the sixth time alongside musical guest Chappell Roan.
The beloved sketch comedy series has been off to a solid start this season with the help of hosts Michael Keaton, Ariana Grande, Nate Bargatze & Jean Smart. Additionally, there's been an all-star lineup of political cameos this season including Maya Rudolph as Kamala Harris, Jim Gaffigan as Tim Walz, Dana Carvey as Joe Biden & Andy Samberg as Doug Emhoff.
When are Bill Burr & Charli XCX hosting "Saturday Night Live"?
On November 9th, Burr will return to host the show for the second time & joining him will be musical guest mk.gee making his SNL debut. Burr has been on quite a roll this year following his appearance as former president John F. Kennedy in Jerry Seinfeld's Netflix directorial debut Unfrosted earlier this year. His next comedy special is set to premiere on Hulu & the revered comic will also be making his Broadway debut in New York next year with Kieran Culkin & Bob Odenkirk.
It has been widely rumored that Dave Chappelle could return to host the show's post-election episode after having done it the last two election cycles in 2016, 2020 & even 2022 during the midterm elections. Needless to say, we'll all be in our seats & are excited to see what Burr has in store during his opening monologue.
mk.gee is a buzzy indie artst whose currently on a world tour with his critically acclaimed debut album, “Two Star & The Dream Police.”
On November 16th, Charli XCX will be pulling double duty when she returns to 30 Rock. In addition to making her return as a musical guest for the third time, the Apple singer will be making her hosting debut during her upcoming episode. The Grammy-nominated musician just released her remix album for her chart topping album "BRAT" titled “Brat and It’s Completely Different but Also Still Brat” earlier this month.
SNL is produced in association with Broadway Video with creator and executive producer Lorne Michaels. The show will mark its 50th anniversary early next year with a celebratory weekend culminating in a live primetime special on Sunday, February 16, 2025.
