Whether you're in the comedy world or not, we all know very well that we're in a day & age where just about everybody & their grandma is hosting a podcast. It's never been more attainable than it is today to connect even deeper with an audience & build a weekly show or series where an artist or a comic gets to connect with their fans further on their own terms. While there are hundreds (yes, hundreds) of podcasts out there, we thought it would be a good idea to try as best we can to filter the noise as much as possible & create a list where we spotlight some of the best comedy podcast episodes dropping each week. So bear with us as we're working out the kinks in this new weekly segment at 800 Pound Gorilla News we're excited to call: Hot Off The Mic.

Every Friday, we'll share our picks for the must watch & listen to comedy podcasts that we believe are worth your time & attention. It'll be a different list each week with a very dynamic selection of comedy podcasts where at least one of the episodes we recommend you'll hopefully love. Without further ado, here are five very funny & entertaining comedy podcast episodes Hot Off The Mic from this past week you need to check out.

5) The Lamorning After joins Trash Tuesday for a cookies & cream ice cream debate

Lamorne Morris, the New Girl actor & comedian who's no stranger to podcasting, launched his newest show earlier this year with his co-host Kyle Shevrin called The Lamorning After. The two funny hosts stopped by the Trash Tuesday studio with Esther Povitsky & Khalyla Kuhn this week to talk "Prince & Danny DeVito in Matilda, Toilet paper, mansplaining bananas" and so much more. Plus, they also get into an unhinged Newlywed Game segment where the two sets of hosts get into a heated debate on whether cookies and cream ice cream is the same as Oreo ice cream. Are you with the Trash Tuesday gang on them being the same or are you on the Larmorning After side? Head to their YouTube channel & settle it out in the comments!

4) Matt Rife reveals to be Ohio garbage on Are You Garbage

Matt Rife is now in high gear promoting his forthcoming crowd-work special, Lucid, premiering next week on Netflix and made his garbage debut on Are You Garbage with H. Foley & Kevin Ryan this week. They talk all about Rife's home state of Ohio, nicknames for grandparents, not finishing high school, and more of Rife's impressive comedy upbringing from when he started out in LA at 17 years old (now 28 & one of the biggest names in comedy for context). By the end of this insightful conversation, Rife earned the coveted title of "all around trash" by Foley & Ryan. An overall fun episode worth checking out to get to know the superstar comic!

3) Andy Richter shares his full-on comedic genius on Blocks

Conan fans will certainly get a kick out of this late night filled conversation with former Late Night With Conan O'Brien & Conan sidekick Andy Richter on the newest episode of Blocks with Neal Brennan. The Crazy Good comedian chatted with Richter about his newest projects including The Three Questions podcast, The Andy Richter Call-in Show on SiriusXM, and of course, more on the latest with Conan O'Brien Needs A Friend. Richter opened up about things "that make him feel lonely, isolated, and like something's wrong - and how he is persevering despite these blocks." With Brennan's skillful interview style & Richter's openness to his vulnerability & pulling the curtain back on his comedy, this made for a very fulfilling episode worthy of putting on your podcast queue.

2) Chad Daniels & Kelsey Cook claim the comedy power couple title on Something's Burning

As Bert Kreischer calls them, "comedy's power couple" Chad Daniels and Kelsey Cook stopped by Something's Burning to chat about peanuts and podcasts while The Machine comic makes a killer pretzel potpie. The two Minnesota based comics host their own podcast together, Pretend Problems, and have spent the last couple of years on the road with Kreischer as part of his Fully Loaded Tour. So seeing the three of them in this setting off stage, truly acting like friends in Bert's kitchen was very entertaining & refreshing conversation to watch. During this episode, Cook also breaks down her peanut allergy while in the kitchen that acted as a fun call back to this hilarious peanut butter joke from her special, The Hustler.

1) Watch Jack Black be the most "lovable, funny, beautiful" guest on Bad Friends

Andrew Santino called this week's Bad Friends Podcast guest Jack Black "one of the most lovable, funny, beautiful people we have on Earth right now" - and the School of Rock star demonstrated just that along with plenty of "good times energy" on this righteous episode of the popular podcast. Co-hosted with Bobby Lee, the three funny dudes spent this episode talking about Black's failure to ollie, Black helping Lee with women, & remedies for being tongue tied to name a few. They also get into Black's current films including Borderlands now in theaters (who he stars with alongside Lee) & his upcoming Minecraft movie in production. If you're needing a Jack Black fix with a joy & humor filled abundance we all know and love from him, this is the episode for you & our highlight of the week!
