Molly Kearney Announces They’re Leaving “SNL”

It’s that time of year. As SNL gears for its 50th season, sadly, that oftentime means some departures will happen. Yesterday, Punkie Johnson announced she was leaving Saturday Night Live. Now, Molly Kearney - the show’s first nonbinary cast member - has announced they’re also not returning to the show after two seasons.

Molly Kearney on leaving "Saturday Night Live."

As they wrote on Instagram this morning, “Yall that’s a wrap on my time on SNL! Reflecting on the amazing 2 seasons I got on this show, it was such a dream come true. So incredibly grateful for this period in my life. So much love to all my big hearted buddies behind the scenes who make the magic happen every week. So many bald caps, so little time. It was a true honor to work with such a talented group of writers and DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE CAST.”

Neither Molly nor Punkie mentioned whether or not they left on their own accord. We also imagine we’ll be seeing more show announcements in the coming weeks before the premiere.
