Saturday Night Live is continuing to make major changes ahead of its 50th season this Fall!
Among the newest changes is Punkie Johnson making her departure from the show the comedian revealed during a Punkie & Friends show last night in New York & confirmed on Instagram this afternoon.

She shared in a video post, "After four seasons, I will not be returning to SNL for the 50th."
“It’s no bad blood, it’s no bridges burned, it’s no hard feelings,” Johnson continued. “‘SNL’ was a dream I didn’t even know that I could achieve. I was a part of one of the most elite institutions in comedy, and I am so grateful for it. That’s still my people. I love them. I’m gonna be at the after parties acting a plumb fool!”
This news follows yesterday's announcement that Maya Rudolph signed on to reprise her original impersonation of Vice President Kamala Harris in 2019 (who Johnson also played throughout her time on SNL).
Johnson first joined the show in 2020 for season 46 as a featured player, she was later promoted to repertory status in 2022 for season 48. Watch the full announcement video below.
