Since creating the hit Apple TV+ comedy series juggernaut Ted Lasso, creator & executive producer Bill Lawrence has been creating a unique TV universe that pulls from a bunch of the same folks that have starred in his previous shows including Ted Lasso, Shrinking, Bad Monkey & of course his breakout hit Scrubs.

Notable examples of this include Zach Braff from Scrubs guest starring in Bad Monkey & directing episodes of Shrinking & Brett Goldstein guest starring in season 2 of & co-creating Shrinking. And now, the latest example of this is Lawrence recruiting Phil Dunster, better known as Jamie Tartt from Ted Lasso, to star in his next project from Scrubs co-creator Matt Tarses: an untitled comedy series starring Steve Carell at HBO.

Everything to know about the new Steve Carell HBO comedy series with Phil Dunster.

The new show was given a ten episode series order back in May and according to the show's description, it's penned as "a single-camera comedy set on a college campus, centering on an author’s complicated relationship with his daughter." Dunster's character details are currently under wraps.

The untitled project is executive produced by Bill Lawrence, Jeff Ingold, and Liza Katzer of Doozer Productions, Matt Tarses & Steve Carrell.

Ted Lasso's studio Warner Brothers Television picked up options on three of the show's main cast, Hannah Wadingham, Brett Goldstein & Jeremy Swift, which give some potential for a fourth season. Chances are we could see Dunster stick around in that Ted Lasso universe for an upcoming season, but until then, we look forward to hearing more about this new series.
