New York based stand-up comedian, writer & content creator Shannon Fiedler has announced her debut comedy special Thirty, Flirty & Crying set to premiere on her YouTube channel September 25th.
Thirty, Flirty & Crying is an hour performed from Fiedler's unique perspective on what it means to be a woman who's recently turned "that number" after 29. "Filled with riffs on such universal topics as the horrors of dating, the pressures of ordering the right wine, and the inherent dangers of using public restrooms, Shannon strikes multiple chords with both male and female fans alike. The overarching theme of, "I'm too young to be this old," informs the hour, as Shannon shares glimpses of the path that has led her to being the very funny, and utterly likable woman she is still in the process of becoming."
The new hour is proudly an all-female production led by Fiedler with the help of director Laura Lucchetti & executive producer Jayme Yarow. It also marks new territory for the comic who's primarily known online for her spot on & relatable - albeit exaggerated - characters, distilling ordinary situations to their most entertaining presence. Fiedler shares in a statement, “This special is something I've been working on for literal years, and I'm so excited to finally put it out into the world. Most of my fans have found me through social media, and so, many of them have never seen my stand up. In fact, I think a lot of them might not even know that I do it!"
She continues, "While the themes and point of view of this show are similar to my videos, Thirty, Flirty & Crying is a much more personal exploration of the topics I'm always riffing on. Stand up is a place where I'm not taking on characters, but am instead sharing my own stories and opinions — and as a result, connecting with my audience even more. I can't wait for people to see this other facet of my comedy and to share this show — and a lot of laughter — with all of you!”
Luchhetti, the director & founder of Hoff Studios, adds, “Shannon is a star. I'm thrilled to be directing this special. Women are magnificent, it’s important to have representation in front and behind the camera as well as above and below the line. The crew for this project was a majority female from top to bottom which we are extremely proud of.”
Ahead of the new special, Fiedler was named a Comic To Watch at the 2023 New York Comedy Festival & has had her work featured in BuzzFeed, Barstool Sports, Overheard New York, Betches, and Gratzia.
