Weird Al Yankovic Cryptically Announces He’s Written A New Movie

There was a gap of over 30 years between the first and second Weird Al Yankovic films. The first was UHF in 1989, that he co-wrote with manager Jay Levey, and starred in. While the film was not considered successful in its initial run, it wound up becoming a cult hit in the years that followed.

The second film he worked on was in 2022, when he co-wrote his own satirical biopic, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, alongside director Eric Appel. This film - starring Daniel Radcliffe - was a send-up of the biopic genre, and was nearly entirely fictionalized, aside from the names of the characters. Yankovic himself has a cameo in the film.

What Weird Al Yankovic is saying about his next movie.

Luckily, we may not have to wait that long again. That’s because Yankovic took to Threads over the weekend to announce a brand-new feature film outing. The comedian wrote simply, “Just finished writing another movie.” Appel then replied “Innnnnteresting. So did I. 🤔”

Both men are keeping things cryptic for now. One fan theory is that they wrote Daniel Radcliffe’s biopic that will star Yankovic, which would be absolutely hilarious. But we’ll just have to wait and see what this could mean…
