Courtesy of FX/Hulu & Netflix.

With Steph Curry’s Mr.Throwback premiering and The Umbrella Academy returning for its fourth season tomorrow, rounding out the summer catalog of sitcoms, we thought it'd be best to provide a list of some of the best sitcoms of the summer. Looking to turn off your brain and sink into the couch as you chuckle along with the comforting company of a sitcom, well we have just the shows for you.

Unstable

Rob Lowe and his son, John Owen Lowe, star opposite each other in the Netflix sitcom, Unstable. In the show the father-son relationship takes center stage as Jackson Dragon (John Owen Lowe) feels like he’s living in his famous father’s shadow as he goes to work for his eccentric dad’s high-tech bio research facility. In order to help stop his father, Ellis Dragon (Rob Lowe), from spiraling after his wife’s death, Jackson must repair his relationship with his dad.

Tires

Shane Gillis is making his mark on the television world with his new sitcom  Tires  , which follows the hardworking but bumbling Will (Steve Gerben) as he’s trying to revitalize the dying family auto-repair chain but is met with the maddening yet hilarious stubborn nature of his employee and cousin, Shane (Shane Gillis). The cousins clash as Shane seeks to undermine Will at every turn and is unrelenting in his torment of his boss.

The Bear

While this one doesn’t have the same comforting effect of most sitcoms, the notoriously stressful dramedy The Bear has had plenty of its own funny moments, particularly with the Fak family of characters . In its first season The Bear took home a record-setting 10 Emmy wins and it’s second is currently Emmy-nominated awaiting the awards ceremony. The highly anticipated third season of The Bear was released at the beginning of the summer and has been extremely well received. The show follows Carmen Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White), a highly trained chef, as he tries to turn his dead brother’s cheesesteak restaurant into a michelin-star restaurant all while managing his chaotic family.

The Umbrella Academy

The Umbrella Academy is set to release its fourth and final season tomorrow, August 8th and we couldn’t be more excited about the new additions to the cast. The comedic talents of Nick Offerman, Megan Mullally, and David Cross are all set to go toe-to-toe with the show's more grave cast. The Umbrella Academy shares the story of an adoptive family of super-powered siblings coming to terms with their adoptive father’s death. Their clashing personalities and sensibilities end up in a mix-up with time travel leading to the imminent threat of an apocalypse. The estranged siblings must once again come together to save the world no matter how morally questionable their means might be.

Mr. Throwback

With the Olympics underway, we’re all thinking, ‘I bet if I just stuck to that sport and trained hard, I could’ve made it.’ Well, Danny Grossman (Adam Pally) feels the same way. Lucky for him, his middle school teammate was Steph Curry. Mr. Throwback follows the middle school buds as they try to reignite Grossman’s potential for stardom through making a documentary about Grossman with the help of Curry’s crew, including Kimberly (played by Saturday Night Live star Ego Nwodim). The six episode Peacock series highlights everything funny about megastars and their sometimes clout-chasing childhood friends.

That '90s Show

That '90s Show follows Leia Forman (Callie Haverda) who is living in her grandparents’ basement for the summer of 1995 and can’t help but get into trouble alongside her friends, a plot that resembles the original series, That ‘70s Show. In Part 2, Leia comes back for the summer of 1996 to reunite with her long distance boyfriend, Jay (Mace Coronel) and, hopefully, have a fun, peaceful summer at Point Place. That’s all ruined when the truth comes out about her and Nate’s (Maxwell Acee Donovan) near kiss, threatening relationships and Leia’s idyllic summer. The sitcom also has comedians Matt Rife, Will Forte, and Kevin Smith as guest stars who all have significant ties to the ‘90s.
